From 27 October, a new American Express supplementary application is paused
28 October 2026
On 28 October 2026, the American Express page Your American Express Experience is Evolving still dates a pause in new Supplementary Card applications to 27 October 2026. The same page dates a technology upgrade to 15 November 2026. This article reads the dates a Card Member can still act on. It is not a reason to apply for a card, or to add a person to an account.
The lines below are from that page, and from the credit-card Most Important Terms and Conditions updated as on 31 March 2026, as read on 28 October 2026. The experience page does not print a publication date of its own. If a live copy differs, follow that copy, then the statement on the account.
What the pause says
The page says new Supplementary Card applications will be temporarily paused from 27 October 2026. A reader who is planning to apply is asked to do so before that date and to complete the application by 3 November 2026.
A later answer uses a clock. Asked whether an application filled in by 26 October 2026, 11:59 PM, will be processed, the page says yes: applications already in progress continue to be processed until 3 November 2026. A second answer says the same for applications already in progress after the pause date. The page does not name a time zone. It calls the pause temporary. It does not print a date when new applications reopen. This page does not say an application will be approved.
Account Cards, a different line
Account Cards are a separate item. The summary says new ones will no longer be available, asks a reader to apply by 27 October 2026 and finish by 3 November 2026, and says an existing Account Card continues to work. It names the Centurion Card, the Platinum Card, the Platinum Reserve Credit Card, the Platinum Travel Credit Card, and the Gold Card.
A later answer dates that end to 15 November 2026 and says the application goes through the Online Account, by 27 October 2026. It names Centurion, Platinum, Gold, and Platinum Reserve, and it does not repeat Platinum Travel. A replacement can be requested until 27 October 2026. A Supplementary Card cannot be issued in the Basic Card Member’s own name. It goes to another person on that account. The screen that accepts the request is the one that applies.
Points, from 15 November
From 15 November 2026, Membership Rewards points on two or more Basic Cards are kept on each Card, and transfers between Cards end. A redemption uses that Card’s balance. The earn rate, the redemption options, and the value for Select and Redeem stay as they are. The minimum printed is 1,000 points, up to the points balance or the outstanding balance, whichever is lower. Points that clear the Total Amount Due also cover the Minimum Amount Due. A partial redemption does not.
A milestone uses the posting date, when the merchant settlement reaches the account, not the purchase date. A purchase on 30 November 2026 that posts in December counts toward December. One answer keeps the old structure for posts before 14 November and the new one from 15 November. A later answer keeps the old structure for anything posted before 15 November. The page does not reconcile the 14th. Regular earning is unchanged, and benefits already earned remain. If the Minimum Amount Due is still unpaid at the next statement, earning and redeeming on that Card stop until it is paid. The example runs from 1 November 2026 to 1 December. Another Card stands on its own.
The late-payment line, and the March sheet
The page says the late-payment fee will use the Total Amount Due, from ₹500 to ₹1,250, on statements generated after 15 November 2026. It applies if nothing is paid, or if the amount paid by the due date is below the Minimum Amount Due. It names the Platinum Reserve, Platinum Travel, Membership Rewards, and SmartEarn credit cards. Charge cards are outside it. The page says the change is for compliance with applicable Reserve Bank requirements, and it does not name a circular. The range is not a worked example. The slabs sit in an updated terms sheet effective 15 November 2026.
The credit-card Most Important Terms and Conditions retrieved on 28 October 2026 are the update as on 31 March 2026. They still charge 30 percent of the Minimum Payment Due, from ₹500 to ₹1,000, plus tax, when that minimum misses the due date. Until the November sheet is the one on the account, follow the statement and the live terms. The reading order is in how to read the MITC.
What else the page dates
The complimentary Ace by Times Prime offer will no longer be available from 20 October 2026, on the Centurion Card and the Platinum Card. An enrolment already made runs to the end of its validity. From 15 November 2026, the 50 percent annual-fee waiver on spends of ₹90,000 or more in a membership year will not be available on the Membership Rewards Credit Card. Platinum renewal vouchers continue when the spend criterion is met and the renewal fee is paid.
The Card can still be used during the upgrade. From 11 to 16 November the PIN, contact details, and security settings cannot be changed online. The page suggests doing that before the 11th. EMI requests in that window are processed after 16 November. Post Purchase EMI is unavailable from 11 to 15 November. From 11 to 18 November, online replacement requests, adding a Card, and the named Elite Tier and monthly milestone enrolments are unavailable. Website cancellation is closed from 12 to 15 November. The helpline, IVR, and app chat stay open. Transactions and points may show late until 16 November, and the page says that delay is not itself a late-payment charge. A statement generated from the 12th to the 17th is available by 18 November. From 10 November, a card lost or stolen abroad is replaced in an estimated 7 to 10 business days.
